Bolungarvík · up to 14 guests · 7 bedrooms
Group accommodation in the Westfjords — space for up to 14 guests
Yes, we take groups: up to 14 people across four self-catering apartments in one building in Bolungarvík, 15 minutes from Ísafjörður through the tunnel. Each apartment sleeps two to four, so a larger party is spread across two, three or all four of them — everyone in the same house, each household with its own kitchen, bathroom and front door. Families travelling together, ski and race groups, work crews and small wedding parties all use us this way.
How many apartments does your group need?
Four apartments, each let on its own, so the combination follows the party size. These are the usual ones:
| Party | Apartments |
|---|---|
| 1–4 guests | One apartment — Lóa, Kría or Ugla |
| 5–6 guests | One four-bed apartment + Krummi |
| 7–8 guests | Two four-bed apartments |
| 9–10 guests | Two four-bed apartments + Krummi |
| 11–12 guests | All three four-bed apartments — Lóa, Kría and Ugla |
| 13–14 guests | The whole house — all four apartments, 7 bedrooms |
Our booking page currently searches one apartment at a time, so a search for more than four guests comes back empty even when the apartments are free. That is a limitation of the search, not of the house. Send us the dates and the number of people and we will come back with the combination and the total.
The beds, apartment by apartment
Worth reading before you split the group up — the apartments are not interchangeable. Who gets the single beds and who gets the double usually decides the allocation:
Krummi
Sleeps 2 · 1 bedroom · 40 m²
One double bed in the bedroom, plus a sofa bed in the living room.
How a group booking works
There is one building, one address and one set of door codes to hand out, which is what makes a group here simple:
- All the apartments are in the same building at Þjóðólfsvegur 14 — no one is across town.
- Each apartment has its own full kitchen, bathroom, washer/dryer and private entrance, so households stay independent.
- Check-in is by lockbox, 24 hours a day, with a code per apartment — a group arriving late or on different flights lets itself in.
- Free parking on site for several cars, which matters when a group arrives in two or three hire cars.
- Each apartment is priced and confirmed individually today, so a group booking is a set of confirmed apartments rather than one line — we keep them together and send you the whole set.
- Booking direct with us is always our lowest price — the same for a group as for one apartment.
Why groups end up in Bolungarvík
Ísafjörður is the natural base for the region and the first place to sell out, and it has very little that can take a party of ten at once. Bolungarvík is 15 minutes away through the Bolungarvíkurgöng tunnel on a paved, year-round road — the same reach for the airport, the pool, restaurants and Hornstrandir boats, usually at a lower price, and with room for the whole group under one roof. For the race weekends and the Easter festival the arithmetic is even starker: the fjord fills months ahead, and a group of ten needs to be early.
Tell us about the group
Dates, how many people, and anything that affects how the group splits — children, a couple that needs its own room, a late arrival. We reply from dufan@dufanapartments.is, usually the same day, with the apartments we would use and the total.
Common questions
Can 10 people stay at Dúfan Apartments?
Yes. Ten guests fit in two four-bed apartments plus Krummi, all in the same building. The house holds up to 14 in total across four apartments. Our online search looks at one apartment at a time, so it will not show a party of ten a result — send us the dates instead and we will confirm the combination.
What is the maximum number of guests?
14 guests in 7 bedrooms — Krummi sleeps 2, and Lóa, Kría and Ugla sleep 4 each. A sofa bed for children can be added in Krummi on request, but we count the house as 14 so nobody is promised a bed that is not there.
Can we rent the whole property?
Yes — all four apartments, 7 bedrooms, up to 14 guests, roughly 255 m² in total. It is the same inventory we let to work crews, and it is the simplest option for a wedding party or a family gathering. Ask us for whole-house dates.
Why does your booking page say no availability for my group?
Because it searches for one apartment that fits the whole party, and our largest sleeps four. With more than four guests the search comes back empty even when three apartments are standing free. We are changing that; in the meantime send us the dates and we will put the combination together.
Are the apartments next to each other?
Yes. All four are in the same building at Þjóðólfsvegur 14 in Bolungarvík, so a group has one address, one car park and one arrival, with each household in its own apartment.
Do groups get a discount?
Longer stays carry a length-of-stay discount where it applies, and booking direct is always cheaper than the OTAs. For a whole-house booking, or several apartments over a week or more, ask us — we would rather quote the set than have you add it up a night at a time.
Can you invoice a group or a company?
Yes. We issue proper Icelandic invoices with kennitala and VAT, in EUR or ISK, which is how the work-crew stays are handled. See our business stays page, or just say so in the enquiry.
